@HeadQL, Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

It sounds like your HP printer is mistakenly trying to connect to the internet using a proxy server, which is why it's asking for "prox internet" (likely a misinterpretation of "proxy"). Here’s how to fix it:

Disable Proxy Settings (on your PC or Printer)

On Windows:

  1. Go to Settings > Network & Internet > Proxy.
  2. Under Manual Proxy Setup, turn “Use a proxy server” off.
  3. Restart your printer and computer.

On Mac:

  1. Go to System Settings > Network.
  2. Choose your network and click Details or Advanced.
  3. Click the Proxies tab.
  4. Ensure all proxy checkboxes are unchecked.
  5. Click OK and then Apply.

Reset Network Settings on the Printer

Many HP printers allow you to reset network settings:

  1. On the printer's control panel, navigate to:
    • Setup > Network Settings > Restore Network Settings or Reset Network Settings.
  2. This will erase any saved proxy or Wi-Fi configurations.

Reconnect to Wi-Fi

After resetting:

  1. On the printer, go to Wireless Setup Wizard.
  2. Reconnect it to your Wi-Fi (no proxy needed).

Check HP Smart App (if you're using it)

If you have the HP Smart app installed:

  1. Open the app.
  2. Go to Advanced Settings or Printer Settings.
  3. Look for Network Settings > Proxy Settings.
  4. If there’s any information in the proxy fields, clear it and save.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
