Hi @Ruckus27,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

I understand your HP printer is not allowing you to scan. There could be several potential reasons and steps to resolve the issue:

Check Connections:

  • Ensure that your printer is properly connected to your computer via USB or is connected to the same network if using wireless.

Restart Printer and Computer:

  • Turn off your printer and computer. After a few seconds, turn them back on to see if this resolves the issue.

Driver and Software Updates:

  • Make sure you have the latest drivers and software installed for your HP printer. Check the Official HP® Support for any updates that may be available for your printer model.

Firewall and Security Software:

  • Some firewall or security software may block scanning functionality. Check if your security settings are interfering with the scanning process and adjust them if necessary.

Printer Settings and Scanner Detected:

  • Ensure that the scanner is selected as the default scanning device in your computer’s scanner settings.

Check for Error Messages:

  • Look on your printer’s display panel for any error messages and resolve them as needed.

    I hope this helps.

Take care and have an amazing day!
