@Sandra5032, Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding your printer 4500!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

I understand that your HP OfficeJet 4500 printer is not connecting to the network, and you suspect that the MAC address filter might be enabled. I’d be happy to assist you with this.

Check MAC Address Filtering on Your Router:

  • Log in to your router’s admin page (refer to your router manual for the IP address and credentials).
  • Navigate to the Wireless Settings or Security Settings section.
  • If MAC Address Filtering is enabled, ensure that your printer’s MAC address is added to the allowed list.

Find Your Printer’s MAC Address:

  • On the printer control panel, press Setup > Network Settings > View Network Address (MAC).
  • Note down the MAC address and add it to your router’s allowed list.

Disable MAC Filtering Temporarily:

  • To test if the issue is due to MAC filtering, try turning it off temporarily and reconnecting the printer.

Reconfigure Wireless Connection:

  • Press the Wireless button on your printer.
  • Select Restore Network Defaults, then reconnect to your Wi-Fi by selecting your network and entering the correct password.

Check Router and Printer Compatibility:

  • Ensure that your router is set to 2.4 GHz (as some older printers may not support 5 GHz networks).
  • Restart both your printer and router to refresh the connection.

If the issue persists, please let me know any error messages you see, and I’d be happy to assist further!

Looking forward to your response.

Take care, and have an amazing day!
