Hi @JC12310,
Welcome to The HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
If your WiFi password contains an exclamation mark and you're unable to find it on the HP Color Laser MFP 179fnw keypad, here are a few suggestions to handle this:
- Use WPS (Wi-Fi Protected Setup): If your router supports WPS, you can use this method to connect your printer to WiFi without entering the password manually. Typically, you press the WPS button on your router and then on the printer within a specified time frame to establish a connection.
- Connect via USB: You can connect your printer to your computer using a USB cable. Once connected, you can set up the printer using the HP Smart app or HP Easy Start software, which often allows you to enter WiFi credentials from your computer.
- Update Printer Firmware: Ensure your printer's firmware is up to date. Sometimes, updates may include enhancements that improve connectivity options.Update the firmware on an HP printer
- Use a Substitute for the Exclamation Mark: If none of the above options are viable, try using a substitute character for the exclamation mark in your WiFi password. For instance, if your password is "MyP@ssw0rd!", you might try "MyP@ssw0rd1" where "1" replaces the "!".

I hope this helps.
