Hi @heavenlyhooves,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

When a printer's network settings are locked, you need to unlock these settings to change the Wi-Fi configuration. Here's how you can proceed:

Access the Embedded Web Server (EWS):

  • First, ensure that the printer is connected to the network via an Ethernet cable or directly to a computer.

  • Open a web browser on a device connected to the same network.

  • Type the printer’s IP address into the address bar and press Enter. You can find the IP address on the printer’s control panel or by printing a configuration page.

Unlock the Network Settings:

  • Once you’ve accessed the EWS, look for the "Settings" or "Security" tab.

  • If a password is required and you don't have it, you might need to reset the printer to its factory defaults, which will clear all network settings and any stored passwords.

Reset the Printer Network Settings:

  • On most printers without a touchscreen, press and hold the Wireless and Cancel buttons until the Wireless and Power lights flash.

  • For printers with a touchscreen, navigate to Restore Network Settings in the Wireless or Setup menu.

Reconnect the Printer to the New Wi-Fi Network:

  • Use the printer control panel to reconnect to the new Wi-Fi network. Go to the Network Setup menu and follow the instructions to enter the new Wi-Fi credentials.

  • Alternatively, use the HP Smart app on your smartphone or computer to help connect the printer.

Resetting Admin Password (if needed):

  • If you do not know the admin password, follow the factory reset steps specific to your printer model as detailed in the user manual or support documentation for HP.

I hope this will help.

Take care and have a good day.
