Hi @HelpRuss,
Welcome to the HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.
Thank you for reaching out to HP Support. We understand how frustrating it can be when your HP Officejet Pro 8600 e-All-in-One printer doesn’t want to cooperate with your new Xfinity router, even when your other devices connect without issue. Let’s walk through the solution and get your printer back online.
Step-by-Step Fix: Reconnect Your Printer to the Network
1. Reset the Printer’s Network Settings
To clear out any old or conflicting Wi-Fi data:
- On your printer’s touchscreen, touch the right arrow.
- Tap Setup > Network.
- Select Restore Network Defaults, then choose Yes.
- A confirmation message will appear: “Network defaults have been restored.”
2. Reconnect to Wi-Fi
After the reset:
- Go to Setup > Wireless Settings > Wireless Setup Wizard.
- Select your new Wi-Fi network from the list.
- Enter your network password carefully (double-check for caps/symbols).
3. Reinstall & Use the HP Smart App
- Download or reinstall the HP Smart app from HP printer setup (HP Smart app) | HP® Support.
- Open the app and choose Add Printer.
- Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the setup and connect.
🔍 Note: Make sure your laptop and printer are on the same Wi-Fi band (preferably 2.4 GHz, as the Officejet Pro 8600 does not support 5 GHz networks).
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
