Hi @nikki12341,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If you need to print using a USB connection and have no internet access, but your HP ENVY 5530 is not printing despite showing as connected, here are the steps you can follow to troubleshoot and resolve the issue:

Step-by-Step Troubleshooting Guide:

1. Check Physical Connection:

  • Ensure that the USB cable is firmly connected to both the printer and the computer.
  • Try using a different USB port on your computer.
  • If possible, try using a different USB cable to rule out any issues with the cable.

2. Set the Printer as Default:

  • Go to "Control Panel" > "Devices and Printers."
  • Right-click on the HP ENVY 5530 printer icon and select "Set as default printer."
  • This ensures that all print jobs are sent to the correct printer.

3. Reinstall Printer Drivers:

  • Disconnect the printer from your computer.
  • Go to "Control Panel" > "Programs and Features" and uninstall any existing HP printer software.
  • Reconnect the printer to your computer via USB.
  • Windows should automatically detect the printer and attempt to install the necessary drivers. If not:
    • Go to the HP ENVY 5530 Drivers Page.
    • Download and install the latest drivers for Windows 10 (32-bit).
  • Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the installation.

4. Check Printer Status:

  • Go to "Control Panel" > "Devices and Printers."
  • Right-click on the HP ENVY 5530 printer icon and select "See what's printing."
  • Ensure there are no print jobs stuck in the queue. If there are, right-click each job and select "Cancel."

5. Run Printer Troubleshooter:

  • Go to "Settings" > "Update & Security" > "Troubleshoot."
  • Select "Printer" and run the troubleshooter.
  • Follow any on-screen instructions to resolve detected issues.

6. Check Printer Settings:

  • Ensure the printer is set to use the USB connection.
  • On the printer’s control panel, navigate to "Setup" > "Preferences" or "Tools" and look for an option related to connectivity or USB mode.

7. Test Print:

  • Open a document or an image on your computer.
  • Go to "File" > "Print" and select the HP ENVY 5530 printer.
  • Click "Print" to see if the document prints successfully.

Additional Tips:

Restart Devices:

  • Turn off the printer and computer, then turn them back on after a few minutes.

Update Firmware:

  • If you previously downloaded the firmware, update the printer's firmware using a USB flash drive.
  • Follow the instructions provided by HP for updating firmware via USB.

Use a Different Computer:

  • If available, try connecting the printer to another computer to determine if the issue is specific to your current computer.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
