My HP 9018 was connected to wifi but all of a sudden one day the wifi option disappeared and only ethernet available.  It keeps saying "An ethernet cable has not been detected. Make sure that both ends of cable are inserted correctly". I tried restoring factory default, unplugging the cord, waiting 60sec and plugging into a wall outlet.  I read on other posts that it needs to have a hard reset and the instructions have been privately sent to the users.  Please help!

Hi @sphmd,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If you're experiencing a situation where you have no Wi-Fi connection and are relying on an Ethernet connection with your HP 9018 printer, here are some steps you can take to troubleshoot the issue.

  • Check the Ethernet connection: Ensure that the Ethernet cable is securely plugged into both your HP 9018 printer and the router or modem. Make sure there are no loose connections.
  • Verify the Ethernet port: Confirm that you are using the correct Ethernet port on your HP 9018 printer. It should be labeled "Ethernet" or have a network icon next to it.
  • Restart the devices: Power off both your HP 9018 printer and the router or modem. Wait for a few seconds, then power them back on. Sometimes, a simple restart can resolve connectivity issues.
  • Reset the network settings on the printer: On your HP 9018 printer, navigate to the network settings or setup menu. Look for an option to reset the network settings to their default values. Confirm the reset and wait for the printer to reboot. Then, try setting up the Ethernet connection again.
  • Check network settings on the printer: Ensure that the printer is set up to use the Ethernet connection. Navigate to the network settings on the printer and select the Ethernet option. You may need to enter the network details manually or allow the printer to obtain an IP address automatically via DHCP.
  • Verify the router settings: Check your router or modem settings to ensure that Ethernet connectivity is enabled. Additionally, verify that the DHCP settings are configured correctly to assign IP addresses to connected devices.
  • Update printer firmware: Visit the official HP support website and check if there are any firmware updates available for your HP 9018 printer. If updates are available, follow the instructions provided to update the printer's firmware. Firmware updates often address connectivity issues and improve overall performance.
  • Test with a different Ethernet cable: Try using a different Ethernet cable to rule out the possibility of a faulty cable.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
