I had to replace my hard drive and now my printer is obsolete. I want a way to install my printer and continue with my HP ink service. I will not buy another HP printer if I can't! Please help me.

Hi @CindyTroubled,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
To install your HP printer and continue with your HP Instant Ink service despite the printer being considered obsolete, follow these detailed steps:
1. Identify Your Printer Model
- Note the exact model of your HP printer. This information will be necessary for downloading the correct drivers and software.
2. Download Drivers from HP’s Website
- Go to the HP Customer Support - Software and Driver Downloads.
- Enter your printer model number in the search bar and press Enter.
- Download the latest available drivers and software for your printer. If your printer is considered obsolete, HP might not have the latest drivers. In such cases, you can try downloading drivers for older versions of Windows that might be compatible with your system.
3. Install the Drivers
- Locate the downloaded driver file and run it.Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the installation process.
4. Connect Your Printe:
- Connect your printer to your computer using a USB cable.
- Ensure the printer is powered on.
- Ensure your printer is connected to the same Wi-Fi network as your computer.
- Follow the printer’s manual instructions to connect to Wi-Fi if it's not already connected.
5. Add Printer in Windows 11
- Open Settings by pressing Windows Key + I.Go to Bluetooth & devices > Printers & scanners.
- Click Add a printer or scanner.Wait for Windows to detect your printer. If it doesn’t, click on The printer that I want isn’t listed and follow the prompts to manually add your printer.
6. Use HP Smart App
- Download and install the HP Smart app from the Microsoft Store.Open the HP Smart app and follow the instructions to add your printer. The app can help you manage your printer and your HP Instant Ink service.
7. Re-activate HP Instant Ink
- Sign in to your HP Instant Ink account on the HP Instant Ink website.Make sure your printer is linked to your Instant Ink account.
- If necessary, contact HP Support to help re-activate your Instant Ink service with your printer.
8. Use Windows Update
- Go to Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update and check for updates.
- Sometimes, Windows Update can find and install the necessary drivers for your printer
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
