Hello,
my printer (Officejet8012e) requires a wi-fi update (printer update check) before starting. Download 100% -> update -> restart and then again ... again and again. The power button does not work, the printer does not connect (HP Smart).
I created a mobile hotspot - result the same. No shutdown during installation.
Some ideas? Thanks.

Hi @228F8B,

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.
It sounds like your HP OfficeJet 8012e is stuck in an update loop. Try the following steps to break the cycle and restore functionality:
1 Perform a Power Reset
- Unplug the power cord from the printer while it is turned on.
- Wait 2-3 minutes to clear residual power.
- Press and hold the power button while plugging the printer back in.
- If the printer turns on normally, check if the update completes.
Perform a Factory Reset
⚠️ Warning: This will erase all settings and require reconfiguration.
- Turn on the printer.
- On the touchscreen, go to:
- Setup (⚙️ icon) → Printer Maintenance → Restore
- Select Restore Factory Defaults.
- Confirm and wait for the reset process to complete.
Try an Alternate Update Method
If the Wi-Fi update keeps looping, update the printer manually via USB:
- Download the latest firmware from HP's support site.
- Connect your printer to a PC using a USB cable.
- Run the firmware update tool and follow the instructions.
Disable Automatic Updates (If Possible)
After resetting, check if you can disable automatic updates in the settings:
- Go to Setup (⚙️) → Printer Update.
- Disable "Automatic Printer Updates".
