If your HP OfficeJet 5258 printer won't turn on at all, here are some steps you can follow to troubleshoot the issue:
✅ 1. Check the Power Source
- Ensure the power cable is firmly connected to both the printer and a working power outlet (avoid using surge protectors or extension cords).
- Try a different wall outlet that you know works.
✅ 2. Inspect the Power Adapter
- If your model uses a power brick, check that all parts of the adapter (from wall to printer) are securely connected.
- Look for any damage on the cable or adapter.
✅ 3. Perform a Power Reset
- Disconnect the power cable from the back of the printer.
- Unplug from the wall.
- Wait 60 seconds.
- Plug the cable back in directly to the wall outlet, then reconnect it to the printer.
- Try turning the printer on.
✅ 4. Check for Signs of Life
- Look for any LED light blink or noise when plugging in—if nothing at all happens, it could be a hardware issue.
- If there's flickering or brief lights, that could mean a power supply or logic board issue.
✅ 5. Try a Different Power Cable
If possible:
- Use a compatible power cord from another HP printer (make sure voltage and pin configuration match).
