HP DeskJet 4255e All-in-One Printer

Can not connect my printer to a new wifi network after moving. I've followed every step multiple times and keep getting a message that my network password is wrong, which it isn't.

Hi @vettemechmike,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding your printer!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

Try these steps:

Verify Network Compatibility

Ensure that your printer and the new router are compatible with the same network standards (e.g., both support 2.4 GHz or 5 GHz frequency bands).

Check the Network Password

  1. Ensure Correct Password: Double-check the network password. Sometimes passwords are case-sensitive and may contain special characters.
  2. Re-enter the Password: Carefully re-enter the network password on the printer.

Restart Devices

  1. Restart the Router: Turn off your router, wait for 30 seconds, and then turn it back on to reset the network.
  2. Restart the Printer: Turn off your printer, wait for a few seconds, and then turn it back on.

Restore Default Wireless Settings on the Printer

  1. Power On the Printer: Make sure your printer is on.
  2. Restore Default Settings: Press and hold the Power button, then press the Start Copy Black button two times, and press the Cancel button three times. Release the Power button. The wireless light will blink; this indicates the wireless settings are reset.

Reconnect to the Wi-Fi Network

  1. Download HP Smart App: Ensure you have the HP Smart App installed on your device.
  2. Go to Network Settings: In the app, go to the network settings where you can set up a new wireless connection.
  3. Follow On-Screen Instructions: Follow the instructions provided by the app to connect the printer to the new Wi-Fi network.

Manual IP Address Configuration (if needed)

  1. Print a Network Configuration Page: Press the Wireless button and the Start Copy Black button on the printer control panel simultaneously.
  2. Find IP Address: Find the IP address on the Network Configuration Page.
  3. Set a Manual IP: Open a browser and type the IP address to access the printer's EWS (Embedded Web Server). Go to the Network tab, then to Network Address (IP), click on Suggest a Manual IP Address, and apply changes. Restart the printer.

I hope this helps.
