HP OfficeJet Pro 8138e All-in-One Printer

printer and hp insta ink appear to be not connecting -  HP app says check my account (appears paid and up to date)  New HP cartridges installed and activated - Insta ink says printer ready to print  - but disconnected from the internet also say printer is offline and may not be able to print (i am still able to print) on my printer the blue internet light is solid which i believe means it is connected - and i get the message to check my account.

I have done all the suggested fixes - shut down printer, router rebooted my computer and checked firmware updated etc. Also the hp app says the printer was last updated in August - any other suggestions?

Possibly you are connected to the printer overy Wi-Fi direct but the printer is not online.

Many HP and other OEM printers have problems with the router when the router has two or more bands and all have the same name (SSID). Log into the modem and rename one of the bands. Alternately, contact your ISP and have them rename a band.  Connect your printer to the router as described below using the 2.4ghz band.

Ideally, your Wi-Fi printer should connect to the modem or router. If your network has multiple boosters / repeaters, it is possible the printer may connect randomly to any of the units. The router needs to provide the same IP address on every connection. This rarely happens with random connects. An alternate Wi-Fi connection is Wi-Fi direct. Your laptop or smartphone prints directly to the printer and does not go through the router. For web services the printer must be online through the router, but you can still print using Wi-Fi direct. Do not call any phone number revealed in any video or site.

This video shows how to connect to the router: 8130 8132 8134 8135 8139 9125
Wi-Fi Direct can be used to avoid configuring the router. Watch this: 8135e
Wi-Fi Direct is explained on page 29 of the User Manual, this Wi-Fi setup avoids configuring the router.

Get a printer network report. The PINs and Passwords should show up. Here is the important stuff from a typical printer report. The password shown in Wi-Fi can be the printers PIN or the modem's password depending on how you connected to the modem. The printer can have two bands but the only one that is connected will show up.

If the Wi-Fi reports 169.254.x.y then there is no conection to the router.
