Hello @jmac653, Welcome to the HP Support Community.

The HP Deskjet 4252e, unfortunately an Ethernet adapter is not a supported way to add a wired network connection.

The 4252e has:

2.4 GHz Wi-Fi

USB 2.0 device connection

No built-in Ethernet port. HP DeskJet 4252e All-in-One Printer - Specifications & Accessories | HP® Support

A USB-to-Ethernet adapter will not work because the printer's USB port is intended for a direct USB connection to a computer, not as a network interface.

More importantly, if you're asking because of HP Instant Ink, USB alone isn't sufficient. HP states that Instant Ink requires the printer to have an Internet-connected network connection.

Connect the 4252e to your normal Wi-Fi network through the HP app.

If your router is far away or Wi-Fi is unreliable, consider improving the Wi-Fi signal with a Wi-Fi extender/mesh system rather than trying a USB-to-Ethernet adapter.

If you have a computer connected by Ethernet, you could use the printer over USB for normal printing, but that wouldn't provide the network/Internet connection required for Instant Ink

You can also use HP's official setup guide for the 4252e here: HP DeskJet 4252e Setup

However, please confirm if you are using the HP Deskjet 4132e All-in-One Printer or the HP Deskjet 4252e.

Have a great day!

I'm an HP Employee.
