Printer disconnected from wifi while traveling; will not reconnect; disconnected/rebooted everything-router, printer, macbook (Ventura 13.7.4). Printer wizard finds wifi, input password, will not connect, network test shows pass on everything except Hardware Address (MAC) is filtered out by router. Online with Spectrum rep, can see printer in device list "disconnected 9 days"

She pushed refresh signal, rebooted everything, removed device, will not connect and now device is no longer in my list of spectrum devices. Something happened while traveling (lost wifi or software update) and connection is gone. I cannot edit MAC address in my spectrum acct, they cannot edit or do anything on their end except offer me a new router. Do I toss printer, it is 10 yrs old but works well when its connected, get a new router or can it be reconnected. frustrated! Thx

Hi @Lisa9419,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding your printer's connectivity!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

The issue you're experiencing with your HP printer not connecting to the Wi-Fi network because of MAC filtering can be resolved by adding the printer's MAC address to the list of accepted devices on your router. Here are the steps to address and resolve this problem:

Retrieve Printer's MAC Address:

  • Print the network configuration page from your printer to get its MAC address.
  • To print the network configuration page: Tap the settings icon on the printer, select Internal Prints > User Information Prints > Network Configuration Page.

Access Router Configuration:

  • Open your web browser and enter your router’s IP address to access the configuration settings. Common IP addresses are 192.168.0.1 or 192.168.1.1.
  • Log in using your admin credentials. If you don’t know the credentials, they may be printed on a label on the router or provided by your ISP.

Add Printer's MAC Address:

  • Navigate to the MAC filtering section (this may be found under security settings or advanced settings).
  • Find the list of devices and add the printer's MAC address to the list of allowed devices.

Save and Apply Changes:

  • Save the changes and reboot the router for the new settings to take effect.

Verify Printer and Wireless Radio Status:

  • Ensure the wireless (Wi-Fi) light on the printer is turned on.
  • Check the signal bars on the printer's control panel to see the strength of the wireless signal.

Advanced Wireless Network Troubleshooting:

  • Ensure no Ethernet cable is connected to the printer as it disables wireless functionality.
  • Restart all components of the wireless network by turning off the router, printer, and computer. Turn them back on in the following order: router first, then the printer, and finally the computer.

Print Wireless Network Test Report:

  • Use the printer’s control panel to print the Wireless Network Test Report. This report will provide a detailed analysis and solutions to any network-related issues that are detected.

I hope this helps.
