@jonVN, Welcome to the HP Support Community! I’m here to help.

I understand you are not able to connect the printer to the wireless network. To assist you better,

  • Are you using a private network?
  • Have you tried connecting the printer to any other network to check if it works?

Let us try these steps:

Restart the wireless router, the printer, and the PC

On the printer screen, go to Setup > Network Setup > Restore network settings

Go back to Network > Wireless > Wireless setup wizard and select your network.

  • Make sure the printer and the PC are connected to the same wireless network. Either 2.4 or 5GHz network.
  • If you have a Dual-band router and both 2.4GHz and 5GHz networks share the same name/SSID, the printer will not be able to connect to the network. In this case, contact your Internet service provider to assign different names to both networks.

If the issue persists, use the WPS method - Connecting an HP Printer Using Wi-Fi Protected Setup (WPS)

Hope this helps! Keep me posted.

Turns out if I remove the password from my network, it connects.   But I can't have my network be without a password.   If I put the password back on, the printer cannot connect to the network.

Hi.  Can you see my reply?

@jonVN

Yes, I can see your replies. This printer supports WPA/WPA2 encryption methods only. Check if your wireless router has the same encryption or was it changed.

You may contact your Internet service provider for this information. Also, make sure MAC address filtering is not enabled on the router.

Did you perform a semi-full reset on the printer?

Let me know how it goes.

my router is using WPA2-PSK encryption.

It's not blocking the printer through mac address filtering.   I can connect to the network and the printer works fine if I turn off the password for my network.

When I turn on the password, it recognizes that a password is needed, but when I enter it, the printer says that the password is incorrect.

I just purchased an HP Care pack, but I am still getting warranty expired for this printer.   How does that work?

oh, also did a full reset on the printer.

After doing some searching, it appears that the printer does NOT support WPA2.   Many people have had this same problem.

I can set my security level to "open" and it works.    I set it to WPA2, and it does not.  People have set their security to WPA, and it then works.

WPA2 and open are the only options I have for this router.   Is HP going to fix this or do I have to buy a new printer?

@jonVN

Most of the newer HP printers do support WPA2. There are no updates for this printer due to its age.

Kindly contact the HP Technical Support team in your region for further assistance with this issue.

Keep me posted for any other assistance.
