Hello,

Printer wasn't printing. It would make a sound like it was and then it would stop. I removed it and tried to reset it so many times and now i can't add the device.

Hi @Gisellecervante

Welcome to the HP Support Community! We're here to help you get back up and running.

I understand how discouraging it feels when the printer seems ready to work but then stops, and I appreciate the effort you’ve already put in by removing and resetting the device multiple times.

Let’s bring back that smooth printing experience together.

Step 1: Power and Connection Check

  • Turn off the printer and unplug the power cord.
  • Wait for 30 seconds, then reconnect and power it back on.
  • Ensure the USB cable or Wi-Fi connection is firmly established.

Step 2: Remove Old Instances

  • On your Windows PC, open Settings > Devices > Printers & scanners.
  • If you see your printer listed, remove it completely to avoid duplicate entries.

Step 3: Add Printer Again

  • In Printers & scanners, click Add device.
  • Wait for Windows to detect the printer. If it doesn’t appear, select Add manually and choose the connection type (USB or Wi-Fi).

Step 4: Use HP App

  • Install or open the HP App from the Microsoft Store.
  • The app guides you through adding the printer and ensures the drivers are correctly installed.

Step 5: Run Diagnose & Fix

  • Open the HP App, select your printer, and choose Diagnose & Fix.
  • This tool automatically checks for issues and repairs them, such as stalled print jobs or driver conflicts.

Step 6: Clear Print Queue

  • In Printers & scanners, select your printer, click Open queue, and clear any stuck jobs.
  • Restart the printer and try a fresh print.

You’ve already taken strong steps by resetting the printer, which shows great initiative. With these actions, we’re focusing on refreshing the connection, ensuring Windows recognizes the printer, and letting the HP App handle any hidden conflicts.
