Hi! I recently moved and as a result have a new WiFi to connect my printer to. I did this no problem the last two times I moved but this time when I turn on my printer it’s giving me a “printer maintenance is in progress do not interrupt” screen. I don’t have the ability to select anything because of this message but it also appears to not be able to preform this maintenance because it isn’t connected to the internet. Is there a way to get around this screen to be able to connect it to my new WiFi?

Hi @Missmason,
Welcome to The HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
I understand you are facing an issue with your HP OfficeJet Pro 8035 is stuck on a maintenance cycle and blocking access to the WiFi settings.
Here are some steps to help you get past the "printer maintenance" screen and reconnect your printer to your new Wi-Fi:
1. Power Cycle the Printer
- Turn off the printer using the power button.
- Unplug it from the power source for about 30 seconds.
- Plug it back in and turn the printer on.
- This may reset any ongoing maintenance and allow you to access the printer's settings.
2. Cancel Maintenance via Printer Settings (if possible)
- If you can access the printer's display before it gets stuck, look for an option to cancel or pause the maintenance. This option might appear briefly on the screen.
3. Reset the Printer Network Settings
- Factory reset of the network settings might help you bypass the "maintenance" screen and reconfigure Wi-Fi settings.
- Turn off the printer.
- Press and hold the Wireless and Cancel buttons on the printer's control panel.
- While holding these buttons, turn the printer on.
- Release the buttons when the wireless light starts flashing (usually in about 10 seconds).
- The printer will reset the network settings, and you can attempt to connect it to your new Wi-Fi network.
4. Use the HP Smart App HP printer setup (HP Smart app)
- If the above steps don’t work, use the HP Smart app (available for Windows, macOS, and mobile devices) to manage your printer:
- Open the HP Smart app on your computer or mobile device.
- Follow the on-screen instructions to add the printer.
- During the setup, you should be prompted to enter your new Wi-Fi credentials.
- If the printer is on the network, you can connect it without using the printer's screen.
5. Check for Firmware Updates Update the firmware on an HP printer
- If the issue is related to the printer's firmware, you can also update it using the HP Smart app or through the HP support website once you’ve managed to get the printer connected to the internet.
6. Hard Reset the Printer (if needed)
If none of the above works and the printer is still stuck:
- Turn off the printer.
- Hold the Power button and Cancel button simultaneously for about 15 seconds.
- Release the buttons, and the printer should reset, which could clear the maintenance process.
After following these steps, you should be able to get your printer connected to your new Wi-Fi network.

I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
