@amelia52, Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
If your HP printer name doesn’t show up on your device when trying to print, it usually means the printer isn’t properly installed or connected. Let’s walk through a few steps to resolve this:

Check Printer Connection

  • For USB printers: Ensure the cable is securely connected to both the printer and your computer.
  • For wireless printers: Make sure the printer is connected to the same Wi-Fi network as your device. You can print a Wireless Network Test Report from the printer’s control panel to confirm.

Add the Printer Manually

On Windows:

  1. Go to Settings > Devices > Printers & scanners.
  2. Click Add a printer or scanner.
  3. Wait for your printer to appear. If it doesn’t, click “The printer that I want isn’t listed” and follow the prompts to add it manually.

On Mac:

  1. Go to System Settings > Printers & Scanners.
  2. Click the + button to add your printer.
  3. Select your printer from the list or use IP address if needed.

Reinstall the Printer Driver

Download and install the latest driver or HP Smart app from: Official HP® Support

If you're unsure of your printer model, you can use the HP Product Detection Tool on that page.

Set the Printer as Default

  • On Windows, go to Settings > Devices > Printers & scanners, click your printer, and select Set as default.

Restart Devices

  • Restart both your printer and your computer/device after installation to ensure everything syncs properly.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
