Hi @JACKIE111111,
Welcome to the HP Support Community.
I'd be happy to help you!
If your HP LaserJet Pro M15w printer is not being found during HP Smart setup on your Mac running macOS 12, try the following steps:
Step 1: Ensure the Printer is Ready for Setup
Check Printer Status:
- Ensure the printer is powered on and has no error lights or messages.
Reset the Printer Network Settings:
- Press and hold the Wireless button and the Cancel button on the printer until the Wireless light blinks. This resets the network settings to default.
Step 2: Check Wi-Fi Connection
- Connect Printer to Wi-Fi:
- On the printer, press and hold the Wireless button for about 5 seconds until the Wireless light starts blinking. This puts the printer in Wi-Fi setup mode.
- Ensure your printer is within range of your Wi-Fi network.
Step 3: Use HP Smart App for Setup
Download HP Smart App:
- Ensure you have the latest version of the HP Smart app installed from the App Store.
Open HP Smart App:
- Launch the HP Smart app on your Mac.
Add a New Printer:
- Click on the “+” button to add a new printer.
- Follow the on-screen instructions to find and connect your printer.
Step 4: Manual IP Connection
Print a Network Configuration Page:
- Press the Wireless button and the Information button on the printer simultaneously to print a configuration page. Note the printer’s IP address.
Access Printer’s Embedded Web Server:
- Open a web browser on your Mac and enter the printer’s IP address in the address bar to access the Embedded Web Server (EWS).
Manually Connect to Wi-Fi:
- Go to the Network or Wireless settings in the EWS and manually enter your Wi-Fi network details.
Step 5: Ensure Network Compatibility
- Check Network Band:
- Ensure your Wi-Fi network is operating on the 2.4 GHz band, as the HP LaserJet Pro M15w may not support 5 GHz networks.
Step 6: Update Firmware and Drivers
Download Firmware Update:
- Visit the HP Support website and check for any firmware updates for your printer.
Install Latest Drivers:
- Ensure you have the latest printer drivers installed on your Mac.
Step 7: Restart Devices
Restart Printer:
- Turn off the printer, wait a few seconds, and turn it back on.
Restart Mac:
- Restart your Mac to refresh the network connections.
Step 8: Verify Network and Firewall Settings
Check Firewall Settings:
- Ensure your Mac's firewall settings are not blocking the HP Smart app or the printer.
Ensure Both Devices Are on the Same Network:
- Confirm that your Mac and the printer are connected to the same Wi-Fi network.
If you follow these steps and still encounter issues, this might require one-on-one interaction to fix the issue via remote assistance on the phone.
Please mark this post as “Accepted Solution” if the issue is resolved and if you feel this reply was helpful click “Yes”.
