Hi - I have an HP Envy 7858 Printer and out of the blue it's having trouble printing. I'm printing from my apple laptop, as always. When I print a document from google drive that is just words, it prints fine. However, when I print a pdf or an image from google drive, it gets messed up. For the image, I'm printing the image on a regular piece of paper from google documents. For example, I'm printing a picture of my dog and it takes the bottom of the picture and moves it to the top and then for the bottom half of the printed pictures, it's a zoomed in section of one tiny part of the original image. It's very strange. When printing pdf's, it prints it all out of order on the page. Both pdf's and the image look totally fine when I'm in the "print controls" and the settings all look the same as always.

The printer has ink in both cartridges. Here are things I've done so far:

-unplugged printer and re-set it up

- restarted my computer

- on the printer, I went through the wireless wizard set up again to re-set it

Does anyone have ideas on how to fix this?

Thank you!

-RH

Welcome to the HP support community.

I understand that you are unable to print from PDF, I am glad to assist you.

Update the Mac OS

  1. Before continuing, it's a good idea to back up your Mac.
  2. From the Apple menu  in the corner of your screen, choose System Preferences.
  3. Click Software Update in the System Preferences window. Can't find Software Update?
  4. Software Update now checks for new software.

Update the PDF reader

  • Launch Adobe Reader or Acrobat.
  • Choose Help > Check for Updates.
  • Follow the steps in the Updater window to download and install the latest updates.

Keep me posed.

If this helps, please mark the public post as an accepted solution so that it benefits several others.
