Hi @zesty

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for posting your query! We're here to help you get back up and running.

It sounds like your HP ENVY 7640 is refusing to cooperate—frustrating, but let's get it back online. Here are a few steps to try:

Basic Checks

  1. Restart everything: Power cycle your printer, computer, and router.
  2. Check connections: Ensure the printer is properly connected via Wi-Fi or USB.
  3. Run HP Print and Scan Doctor: HP has a tool that can diagnose and fix common issues. You can download it here

    Windows 11-Specific Fixes

Check the "Use Printer Offline" setting:

  • Open Printers & Scanners in Windows settings.
  • Select your printer and click Open Queue.
  • Click Printer in the menu and ensure Use Printer Offline is unchecked. You can follow a video guide here.

Restart the Print Spooler:

  • Press Win + R, type services.msc, and hit Enter.
  • Find Print Spooler, right-click, and select Restart.

Reinstall the Printer Driver:

  • Uninstall the printer from Device Manager.
  • Download the latest driver from HP’s official site and reinstall it.

Recent Windows 11 Updates

Some users have reported that Windows 11 updates from April 2025 caused printer connectivity issues. If your printer stopped working after an update, you might need to roll back the update:

  • Go to Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update > Update History.
  • Click Uninstall Updates and remove the latest update.

Try these steps and let me know how it goes! If the issue persists, we can dig deeper.
