Hi @Dee0167, Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If your HP DeskJet 2855e printer shows as connected to Wi-Fi but is offline, here are a few troubleshooting steps you can try:

Restart Devices

  • Power cycle the printer: Turn it off, unplug it from power for 30 seconds, then turn it back on.
  • Restart your Mac, Windows PC, and router.

Check Printer Connection

  • On the printer, press the Wireless button (📶) to check if it's connected to Wi-Fi.
  • Print a Wireless Network Test Report:
    1. Press and hold the Information button (i) until all buttons light up.
    2. Press the Information (i) + Wireless (📶) buttons together.
    3. This will print a report showing connection status.
    4. Look for "Connected" or "Disconnected" in the report.

Ensure Correct Printer Selection on Mac

  • On your Mac, go to:
    • System Settings > Printers & Scanners > Select the HP DeskJet 2855e.
    • Make sure it is not paused.
    • If the printer appears twice (one as Bonjour and another as AirPrint), delete both and re-add the AirPrint one.

Reset the Printing System (Mac)

  • Go to System Settings > Printers & Scanners.
  • Right-click on the printer list and select Reset Printing System.
  • Re-add the printer and select AirPrint instead of HP Smart.

Check Printer Status on Windows

  • Open Control Panel > Devices and Printers.
  • Right-click on the printer and uncheck Use Printer Offline if selected.

Reconnect the Printer to Wi-Fi (if needed)

If the printer is not connected, reconnect it using Wi-Fi Setup Mode:

  1. Press and hold the Wireless (📶) and Cancel () buttons together until the power light flashes.
  2. Use HP Smart on your Mac/PC to reconnect it to your Wi-Fi.

Reinstall HP Smart

If the issue persists:

  • Uninstall HP Smart on your Mac and Windows PC.
  • Download and reinstall it from the Mac App Store or HP's website.
  • Use HP Smart to re-add the printer.
