Common problems for Connectivity Issues

after last updates I couldn't scan. I removed old HP Envy 5660 software and installed new. Now, I can't print or scan. I get the error code "printer is note activated code 30"

Don't worry as I'll be glad to help, I have a few troubleshooting steps we could try to fix the issue:  

(1) Turn the printer on, if it is not already on.

(2) Wait until the printer is idle and silent before you continue.

(3) With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the rear of the printer.

(4) Unplug the power cord from the wall outlet.

(5) Wait at least 60 seconds.

(6) Plug the power cord back into the wall outlet.

NOTE: HP recommends connecting the printer power cord directly to the wall outlet.

(7) Reconnect the power cord to the rear of the printer.

(8) Turn on the printer, if it does not automatically turn on.

The printer might go through a warm-up period. The printer lights might flash, and the carriage might move.

Wait until the warm-up period finishes and your printer is idle and silent before you proceed.

 

If the issue persists, click here to update the firmware on the printer.

Thank you for your reply. I have installed new and updated software and it now will print...however, I now cannot scan to computer. I don't know how to tell the printer to find my computer to scan. Can you help here.

Thank you for posting back.

 

Let's try this:

  • With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the rear of the printer and also unplug the power cord from the wall outlet.
  • Remove USB cable, if present.
  • Wait for 2-3 minutes, press and hold the power button on your printer for about 30 seconds to remove any additional charge.
  • Now plug back the power cable straight to a wall outlet without any surge protector or an extension cord (This is important) and then plug back the power cord to the printer.
  • Turn on the printer and wait till warm-up period finishes and the printer is idle.
