Hi @Steve2225

1. Yes, for every printer connection, then you will need to add another printer in your Windows Printer panel.

  • So, it may appear like 3 printers listed in your list of Printers & scanners.

2. For example, if you connect your printer using USB cable a printer will appear,

  • then if you add a Wired network printer another will be show,
  • and so if you add a Wireless printer another will be shown,
  • like 3 separate printers in your list.

3. Also you may need to check in Advanced sharing settings the next options:

  • Network discovery - Turn ON
  • File and printer sharing - Turn O

4. Please check the steps in the next video for Advanced settings:

So having gone through the steps suggested I have again tried to add the printer as a wireless connection.  All methods available seem to fail.  Trying to set it up using the IP address (both the IP address noted in the configuration report as Wi-Fi direct setup IP address and shown in the printer information report as the wireless IP address, and using the Wi-Fi direct name and using the printer's PIN have all failed to install the printer.  I'm at a loss as to how to proceed.

I ran a wireless network test report.  It reports the following:  "More than one access point/wireless router has been found that matches your wireless network's name (SSID).  If this is unintended your printer might connect to the wrong wireless network.  If you change your network's name, you will need to configure the SSID on all you wireless device to match the new network SSID."

To explain, I have a router within 4 feet of the printer.  I also have an additional router using the same network name in an adjacent building.  One router will not cover both building that both have stucco construction.  Most devices work seamlessly moving between buildings.

Additional thoughts?

Hi @Steve2225

Thank you for providing more details about your network. 😇

1. Maybe I will not be able to help you more, because I don't know the specific configuration in your network routers.

2. But let me tell you that some Laserjet printers works better with a Wireless network set to 2.4 Ghz.

3. Check in your router guide/manual configuration option to assign a Wireless with the next settings:

  • 2.4 Ghz network
  • Type: B/G network
  • Security: WPA or WPA2

I hope this settings in your router could help you to connect that Laserjet printer.
