Hi @diesel2781,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

I understand your printer is not automatically reconnecting to the internet after interruptions, even though it’s set to do so. Let’s go through a few steps to check what could be causing this.

Restart printer and router
Turn off the printer and unplug your router for 30–60 seconds. Turn the router back on first, then power the printer back on. This helps refresh the network connection.

Check Wi-Fi signal strength
Printers can struggle to maintain a stable connection if the signal is weak. Make sure the printer is within range of the router and not blocked by walls or large objects.

Verify network settings on the printer
Go to the printer’s network settings menu and confirm that Reconnect automatically or Auto-connect is enabled. Some models require this to be set separately for Wi-Fi Direct and standard Wi-Fi.

Update printer firmware
Outdated firmware can cause network connectivity issues. Use the HP Smart app or HP Support Assistant to check for firmware updates and install them if available.

Assign a static IP (optional)
If your internet connection is unstable, assigning a static IP to the printer can prevent it from losing connection after interruptions. This can be done in the printer’s network settings or via your router.

Check for network interference
Other devices, microwave ovens, or cordless phones can interfere with Wi-Fi signals. Try minimizing interference or changing your Wi-Fi channel in the router settings.

Test reconnection manually
After a power or internet interruption, attempt to reconnect the printer manually via the control panel or HP Smart app. If manual reconnection works consistently, the auto-reconnect setting may not be fully supported under frequent interruptions.

I hope this helps.
