My printer recognizes my Network but will not connect to it using what I KNOW is the correct password?  Slomins home security was in my house recently and likely interrupted the internet, but all my other devices have connected to my network with the same password so ... ?

Hi @rjfasullo,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

I can imagine how frustrating this is, especially when you know the password is correct and other devices connect fine. This usually happens when the printer’s wireless settings or router security protocols get out of sync after a network change (like what might have happened during the Slomins' installation).

Step 1: Restart Everything

  • Power cycle your printer, router, and PC/mobile device.
  • Wait 30 seconds before turning them back on.

Step 2: Check Wi-Fi Band & Security

  • HP printers often work best on 2.4 GHz, not 5 GHz.
  • Ensure your router is broadcasting 2.4 GHz and using WPA2 security (not WPA3-only).

Step 3: Forget & Reconnect

  • On the printer:
    • Setup → Network Settings → Restore Network Defaults.
  • Then reconnect using the correct SSID and password.

Step 4: Use HP App

Step 5: Advanced Router Check

  • If you have MAC address filtering or firewall rules, temporarily disable them.
  • Make sure DHCP is enabled so the printer gets an IP address.

Step 6: Firmware Update

I hope this helps.

Take care and have an amazing day!
