Printer was unused for about two weeks; upon first try to print, wait to connect message never completed connection.  Printer display date is about two weeks prior to todays date.   Printer was left turned on when not in use.  Simple not connected message appears on bluetooth status.  Rebooted router, disconnected and reconnect printer, didn't work.  Rebooted laptop too.  Have not yet uninstalled printer... any advice?

@ShireFox, Welcome to HP Support Community,

Thank you for posting your query; I’m here to help by guiding you through steps to resolve this issue

It seems that your HP ENVY printer is experiencing connectivity issues after being left unused for two weeks. Given the details you've provided, here are some steps that may help resolve the problem:

Check Wireless Signal Strength:

  • Ensure that the printer is within the range of your wireless network. If the wireless signal is weak, try moving the printer closer to the router.

Verify Printer's Wireless Connection:

  • Check the printer’s control panel to ensure that the wireless radio is turned on. The light next to the Wireless button should be steady blue, indicating a successful connection. If it's blinking, the printer might be in setup mode or trying to connect.

Update Date and Time Settings:

  • Sometimes incorrect date and time settings can affect connectivity. Adjust the date and time settings on your printer to match the current date.

Print a Wireless Network Test Report:

  • From the printer control panel, press the Wireless button and the Information button at the same time to print the Wireless Network Test Report and Network Configuration Page. Check the results to ensure everything is configured correctly.

Bluetooth Connection:

  • If a simple "Not Connected" message appears for Bluetooth, ensure that Bluetooth is enabled on both the printer and the laptop. Re-pair the devices if necessary.

Reconnect Network Settings:

  • Consider using the Wireless Setup Wizard found in the printer's Network settings menu to reconnect your printer to the network.

Check for Firewall or Antivirus Issues:

  • Make sure that any firewall or antivirus software on your computer is not blocking the printer connection. You might need to adjust settings or create exceptions.

Use an HP Utility for Diagnosis:

  • If printing from a Windows computer, try using the HP Print and Scan Doctor utility to automatically diagnose and resolve issues.

Test with a Power Cycle:

  • Perform a full power cycle by turning off and then unplugging the printer, waiting a minute, and then plugging it back in and restarting.

Software Reinstallation:

  • If none of the above solutions work, consider uninstalling and reinstalling the printer software. This may resolve any lingering driver or software issues.

I hope this helps.

Please feel free to reply here if you have any questions or if you need further clarification on any of the steps.

Take care and have a good day.

Thank you for the detailed response.  While I would have used your details to reconnect to WiFi, I have also received and implemented the following successful solution.  Turned off/disconnect or simply unplug the router.  Disconnected/unplugged the printer.  Shut down the laptop completely.  Wait about two minutes.  Return to the router and reconnect, return to the printer and reconnect.  Finally, turn on and restart the laptop.  Once this sequence was completed, function of PC directed commands to printer resumed and printing resumed.  Hope this corrective sequence helps others..
