Hi @maddog1123,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

Let’s get your HP DeskJet 2640 smoothly connected to your new Starlink Wi‑Fi network. I understand it can feel frustrating, but with the right steps, we can make it hum again soon! 😊

Step 1: Reset the Printer’s Network Settings

To clear out any old Wi‑Fi profiles:

  1. Press and hold the Wi‑Fi button and the Cancel (X) button together for about 5 seconds.
  2. The wireless light will start blinking. Your printer is now in Wi‑Fi setup mode.

Step 2: Use the HP App to Connect

  1. On your computer or phone, make sure you're connected to the new Starlink Wi‑Fi.
  2. Open or download the latest HP App – For HP Printers, Laptops, and Tech Accessories | HP® Official Site.
  3. Within the app, tap “+” to add a Printer.
  4. When the printer appears in setup mode, follow prompts to select your Starlink SSID and enter the password.

💡 Tip: Ensure your mobile device’s Bluetooth and Location Services are on; this helps the app detect the printer during setup.

Step 3: If the Printer Doesn’t Appear

  • Move the printer closer to the Starlink router to ensure a strong signal.
  • Alternatively, temporarily connect the printer to your computer via USB
    1. Connect the printer and computer with a USB cable.
    2. Use the HP app or the official setup guide to install it.
    3. Once installed, use the app's option to convert to wireless, then follow the onscreen steps to switch it onto Starlink Wi‑Fi.

Step 4: Confirm the Wi‑Fi Connection

  • On the printer, the wireless light should glow steadily once connected.
  • In the HP App, you should see the printer listed as “Ready” under your Starlink network.
  • Print a Wireless Network Test Report (if available) to verify its connection.

Why Starlink Networks Can Be Tricky

Starlink routers lack WPS buttons and don't support IP address reservation, so printers may lose connectivity or struggle to rejoin after power cycles. To avoid this, stick with manual Wi‑Fi setup or USB-initiated wireless configuration.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have an amazing day!
