Hi @krystal08

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If your printer only connects to the HP app when your phone is connected to the printer's direct Wi-Fi, but you want to print over your home Wi-Fi network, follow these steps to troubleshoot the issue:

Reconnect Printer to Wi-Fi:

  • Ensure that your printer is connected to your home Wi-Fi network. You can do this from the printer’s control panel:
    • Go to Setup > Network > Wireless Setup Wizard.
    • Select your home Wi-Fi network and enter the password.

Check Printer Connection:

  • Print a network configuration page from the printer’s settings to verify it is connected to your home network.

Update the HP Smart App:

  • Ensure you have the latest version of the HP Smart app installed on your phone. Update it if necessary.

Remove and Re-add the Printer in the App:

  • Open the HP Smart app and remove the printer from the list. Then, use the app to add the printer again while connected to the same Wi-Fi network.

Enable Network Discovery:

  • On your phone, ensure that network discovery is enabled in your Wi-Fi settings. This helps devices on the same network find each other.

Check Firewall Settings:

  • If you’re using a router with advanced security settings, check to make sure it’s not blocking the printer’s IP address.

Use the Same Network:

  • Make sure your phone and the printer are connected to the same Wi-Fi network. If you have multiple networks (like a 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz), ensure both devices are on the same one.

Reset Network Settings:

  • If the issue persists, you might want to reset the network settings on the printer and reconnect it to your Wi-Fi.

Restart Devices:

  • Restart both your printer and smartphone to refresh the connection

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
