Hi @stephaney12

Welcome to the HP Support Community! We're here to help you get back up and running.

Thanks for hanging in there—printer setup hiccups like this can be super frustrating, especially when everything else seems ready to go. Let’s walk through a few steps to help your OfficeJet Pro 8130e recognize its IP address and start printing smoothly.

Restart Devices:

  • Turn off your printer and unplug it for about a minute.
  • Restart your router by unplugging it for about a minute, then plug it back in.
  • Restart your computer.

Check Network Connection:

  • Ensure the printer is connected to the same network as your computer. If using Wi-Fi, verify that the printer's wireless light is on.
  • For a wired connection, inspect the Ethernet cable to ensure it is securely connected.

Print Network Configuration Page:

  • From the printer's control panel, print a network configuration page to check its status.
  • Verify the IP address assigned to the printer. If there is no IP address or it is incorrect, this might be the source of the issue.

Reconfigure Network Settings:

  • Use the printer's setup menu to connect it to your network again. You may need to enter the correct Wi-Fi password or choose the correct network.

Manually Set IP Address:

  • If the printer does not automatically receive an IP address, you can manually set a static IP address that is suitable for your network.
  • Access the printer's settings via its control panel or through HP Smart software, if supported.

Update Printer Firmware:

  • Check the HP Support website for any firmware updates for your printer model and install them. Sometimes firmware updates can resolve connectivity issues.

Check Firewall and Antivirus Settings:

  • Sometimes, security software can block network communication. Temporarily disable firewalls or antivirus programs on your computer to test if this resolves the issue.

Use HP’s Diagnose & Fix Tool

  • In the HP Smart app, click Printer Settings > Diagnose & Fix.
  • Let it run a scan—it will automatically fix common connection issues.
You can also access this tool on HP’s support page if needed.

Let me know how far you get with these steps, and I’ll be right here to help with the next move. We’ll get this sorted!
