Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Recently purchased an HP Office Jet 8010e printer and I'm not satisfied with the printing method. I think you should be able to print directly from the computer screen and not have to go into a save loop before the info can be printed. Our prior HP printers allowed printing directly from the computer screen. I'm wondering if I did something wrong during the wi-fi setup. I had to use a USB cable to set up the printer but it does appear the wi-fi is working now because the printer is no longer connected with the USB cable and the blue indicator light is illuminated and I can print. Any suggestions?

Thanks

Hi @ed9991,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

I'm sorry to hear that you're experiencing difficulties with your HP OfficeJet 8010e printer. Printing issues can be frustrating, but there are several steps you can take to troubleshoot and hopefully resolve the problem. Here are some common solutions for common printing problems.

Check for Hardware Issues:

  • Make sure the printer is properly connected to your computer or network.
  • Ensure that there is enough paper in the paper tray and that it's loaded correctly.
  • Check the ink or toner levels. Low ink/toner can lead to printing problems.

Restart the Printer:

  • Sometimes, simply turning the printer off and then back on can resolve minor issues.

Update Printer Drivers:

  • Outdated or corrupted printer drivers can cause problems. Visit the HP website to download and install the latest drivers for your OfficeJet 8010e.

Clear Print Queue:

  • If there are any pending print jobs in the print queue, clear them and try printing again.
  • For Windows: Go to "Control Panel" > "Devices and Printers," right-click on your printer, and select "See what's printing." Then, click "Printer" and choose "Cancel All Documents."
  • For macOS: Go to "System Preferences" > "Printers & Scanners," select your printer, and click the "Open Print Queue" button. Then, click "Printer" and choose "Cancel All Documents."

Check for Software Conflicts:

  • Sometimes, conflicting software or applications can interfere with printing. Close any unnecessary programs and try printing again.

Check for Firmware Updates:

  • HP occasionally releases firmware updates that can improve printer performance. Check the HP website for any available updates for your printer model.

Paper and Print Quality Settings:

  • Ensure that you have selected the correct paper type and print quality settings in your print dialog box or printer settings.

Network Connection:

  • If your printer is connected to a network, make sure it has a stable and strong connection. Reboot your router if necessary.

Print a Test Page:

  • Most printers have a built-in option to print a test page. This can help diagnose if the issue is with the printer itself or the computer.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
