Hi @MOTORBOB1891,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

I understand your HP laptop is unable to connect to your HP printer after being previously connected. You can follow these steps to resolve the issue:

Check Printer and Laptop Connection:

  • Ensure both the printer and the laptop are connected to the same Wi-Fi network if using a wireless connection.

  • If connecting via USB, ensure the cable is securely connected to both the laptop and the printer.

Reinstall Printer Drivers:

  • On Windows, go to the "Control Panel" > "Devices and Printers," and select "Add a Printer" to reinstall the printer.

  • Alternatively, visit the HP Support page to download and install the latest drivers for your printer model.

Verify and Restore Connection:

  • Use the Wireless Setup Wizard on the printer's control panel by touching the Wireless icon, then Settings, and following the on-screen instructions to reconnect it to your network.

Use HP Smart:

  • Download and install the HP Smart app from the Microsoft Store or (HP website) to help set up your printer and manage printer settings.

Check Printer Settings:

  • Ensure your printer is set as the default printer in your laptop's "Printers & Scanners" settings.

Network Troubleshooting:

  • Run the Windows Troubleshooter by typing "Troubleshoot settings" in the Start Menu, selecting "Troubleshoot other problems," and then selecting "Printer" to diagnose and resolve connection issues.

Update Windows and Printer Firmware:

 I hope this will help.

Take care and have a good day.
