Hi @healthyoptions,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

It sounds like the issue might be related to the printer's network settings. Here's what you can try.

  • Check Network Connection: Make sure your printer is properly connected to the new T-Mobile gateway. Ensure that the network cables (if any) are securely plugged in, or if you're using a wireless connection, ensure that the printer is connected to the correct Wi-Fi network.
  • Verify Wi-Fi Settings: On your HP8600, navigate to the network settings menu. Look for options related to Wi-Fi or network connectivity. Ensure that the printer is set to connect to the correct Wi-Fi network. This typically involves selecting the network name (SSID) and entering the Wi-Fi password, if applicable.
  • Frequency Setting: If your T-Mobile gateway broadcasts both 2.4GHz and 5GHz Wi-Fi networks, make sure your printer is connected to the appropriate one. Some older devices like printers might not support 5GHz networks, so ensure it's connected to the 2.4GHz network if that's the case.
  • IP Address: Check if your printer has been assigned an IP address by your router. This can usually be found in the network settings menu of the printer. Ensure that the IP address falls within the range of your local network and that it's not conflicting with any other device.
  • Restart Devices: Sometimes, simply restarting both the printer and the T-Mobile gateway can resolve connectivity issues. Turn off both devices, wait for a few minutes, then turn them back on and check if the printer connects to the network.
  • Update Firmware: Check if there are any firmware updates available for your HP8600 printer. Updating the firmware can sometimes address compatibility issues and improve overall performance.

By ensuring the correct network settings on your printer and troubleshooting any connectivity issues, you should be able to get it back online and printing successfully.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.

thank you. we are going to try and see what the issue is in a little while. right now i have no idea why the printer was on line and then after turning it off and then on again it is not longer on line.

the t mobile gateway is not a normal modem but i had this printer connected to an earlier model of it  for years.

if we run into a real snag an i need to get a new printer are i see some have smart setups and can connect via Bluetooth. the envy was suggested to me. i do have a dumb question wha is the difference between internet and wi fi for these printers. are they one and the same if you have a wireless connection.

i appreciate you help.

we were successful. the issue seemed to be that web services were not set up the first time.

they are now. i have a prior hp account with the printer email of this printer with a different ip address and gateway.

how do i change the email of the printer and the data in my account or do i have to create another account?
