I recently purchased a new HP Envy printer. It seemed to work just fine (I've had the printer for about a month). However, I now can't print ANYTHING. I get the message "waiting for printer connection" but I guess it's not connecting because nothing is printing. I'm not very computer savvy. Can anyone help?

Hi @Moetl
Welcome to the HP Support Community! We're here to help you get back up and running.
If your HP Envy printer displays the message "waiting for printer connection" and isn’t printing, the following steps may help resolve the issue:
1. Check Printer and Network Connection
Ensure Printer is On:
- Make sure your printer is turned on and there are no error messages displayed on the printer’s control panel.
Restart Devices:
- Turn off your printer, computer, and wireless router. Wait a few moments, then turn them back on. This can often resolve connectivity issues.
Check Network Connection:
- Verify that your printer is connected to your wireless network. Many HP Envy printers have a wireless icon on their display. Ensure it shows a connected status.
2. Wireless Connection Setup
Reconnect to the Network:
- If necessary, use the touchscreen display on your printer to go to wireless settings and reconnect the printer to your Wi-Fi network. You may need to enter your Wi-Fi password.
Print a Wireless Test Report:
- On the printer’s control panel, navigate to the “Wireless” menu and select “Print Wireless Test Report.” This will help diagnose any connectivity issues.
3. Check Printer Settings on Your Computer
Set Printer as Default:
- On your computer, go to “Printers & Scanners” and make sure your HP Envy printer is set as the default printer.
Clear Print Queue:
- In “Printers & Scanners,” select your printer, click "Open queue," and cancel any pending print jobs.
4. Update or Reinstall Printer Drivers
Update Printer Drivers:
- Visit the HP Support website to download and install the latest printer driver available for your specific HP Envy model.
Reinstall Printer Drivers:
- If updating does not work, you can uninstall and then reinstall the printer drivers from the HP Support website.
5. Use HP’s Diagnose & Fix Tool (Windows)
- In the HP Smart app, click Printer Settings > Diagnose & Fix.
- Let it run a scan—it will automatically fix common connection issues.
You can also access this tool on HP’s support page if needed.
6. Check for Firmware Updates
- Update Printer Firmware:
- Occasionally, firmware updates are released to fix bugs and improve performance. Check HP’s support site for any available firmware updates for your printer model.
Let me know how far you get with these steps—I’ll guide you the rest of the way. You’re not alone in this!
