Common problems for Connectivity Issues
We would like to share some of the most frequently asked questions about Printer Wi-Fi, Connectivity Issues and Offline Status. Check out this link: HP printer is offline or unavailable.
HP Recommended

I have a new wifi network, I am trying to reconnect the printer (HP Smart Tank 6001 All-in-one) to the new wifi. I have followed all the steps provided however none seem to work. I see the printer in my account when I log in on pC or on the HP Smart app however nothing is connecting. I have been at this for well over 2 hours. Press and hold wifi and I and then use the app, to finish set-up doesn't work; 123.hp.com doesn't work, none of the steps shown in directions populate... I am at a loss. Please help. I am out of warranty since 2024.

Thanks in advance

Hi @Javicia

Welcome to the HP Support Community! We're here to help you get back up and running.

I understand how exhausting it must feel to spend hours trying to reconnect your Smart Tank 6001 to a new Wi‑Fi network without success. You’ve already shown great persistence by trying the button combinations, the HP App, and even 123.hp.com.

Let’s go through a clear set of steps to get the printer back online.

Steps to reconnect your Smart Tank 6001 to a new Wi‑Fi

Restore Wi‑Fi setup mode on the printer

  • With the printer powered on, press and hold the Wi‑Fi button and the Information (i) button together for about 5 seconds.
  • The printer should reset its wireless settings and enter setup mode (the Wi‑Fi light will blink).

Use the HP App on your PC or mobile

  • Open the HP App.
  • Select your printer from the list.
  • If it shows “offline,” choose Set up a new printer instead.
  • Follow the prompts to connect the printer to your new Wi‑Fi network.
  • Make sure your PC or phone is connected to the same Wi‑Fi network you want the printer to join.

Manual connection via WPS (if router supports it)

  • On your router, press the WPS button.
  • Within 2 minutes, press and hold the Wi‑Fi button on the printer until the light blinks.
  • The printer should connect automatically.

Check IP address assignment

  • Print a network configuration page by pressing the Information (i) button once.
  • Look for the IP address. If it shows 0.0.0.0, the printer is not connected.
  • If it shows a valid IP, type it into a browser to confirm the printer’s embedded web server is accessible.

Update firmware if needed

Re‑add printer in Windows

  • On your PC, go to Settings > Bluetooth & devices > Printers & scanners.
  • Remove the old printer entry.
  • Click Add device and select the Smart Tank 6001 once it’s connected to Wi‑Fi.

By restoring Wi‑Fi setup mode, using the HP App, and confirming the IP address, you’ll be able to isolate whether the issue is with the printer’s wireless reset or the router connection.
