I need to reinstall my printer on my ipad and iphone.  It seems to be  an issue in the settings with the printer.  I can print on my laptop on a network but can't the other.

Hi @ssh1825,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

To reinstall your printer on your iPad and iPhone, follow these steps to ensure that your devices are correctly set up to print:

1. Ensure Printer is Connected to the Network:

  • Network Connection: Make sure your printer is properly connected to the same Wi-Fi network as your iPad and iPhone.
  • Printer Status: Check that the printer is turned on and ready. Some printers have a status display that shows network connectivity.

2. Update Printer Firmware:

  • Firmware Update: Check the HP website for any firmware updates for your printer model. Follow the instructions to update the firmware if necessary.

3. Check Printer Compatibility:

  • AirPrint Support: Ensure that your printer supports AirPrint, which is Apple's wireless printing technology. Most modern printers are compatible, but it’s worth verifying.

4. Reinstall the Printer on iPad and iPhone:

Remove Existing Printer:

  1. Open Settings: Go to Settings on your iPad or iPhone.
  2. Printers & Scanners: Find the Printers section (sometimes under General or Devices).
  3. Remove Printer: If your printer is listed, tap on it and select the option to remove or delete it.

Add Printer:

  1. Open an App: Open an app that supports printing, such as the Photos app, Mail app, or Notes app.
  2. Initiate Print: Tap the share icon (usually a square with an upward arrow) and select Print from the options.
  3. Select Printer: Tap Select Printer. Your iPad or iPhone should search for available printers on the network.
  4. Choose Printer: Select your printer from the list. If it doesn’t appear, ensure that the printer is on the same network and try refreshing the list.

5. Ensure Printer Settings are Correct:

  • Network Settings: Verify that the printer’s network settings are correct and that it is connected to the right Wi-Fi network.
  • Check IP Address: Sometimes, printers can have issues if their IP address changes. Verify the printer’s IP address on its control panel and ensure it matches what’s expected.

6. Restart Devices:

  • Restart Printer: Turn off the printer, wait 30 seconds, then turn it back on.
  • Restart iPad/iPhone: Restart your iOS devices to refresh their network connections.

7. Update iOS:

  • Check for Updates: Make sure your iPad and iPhone are running the latest version of iOS. Go to Settings -> General -> Software Update to check for and install any updates.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
