reset factory settings greyed out

I am unable to reset an hp officejet pro 6978 to factory defaults, it says this has been locked by the person who setup your printer. How do I reset a printer that will not allow you to choose the reset to factory defaults?

I understand you are facing an issue with your HP Officejet Pro 6978 Printer. Not to worry I will help you to get a resolution to resolve the issue.

We have to perform a factory Reset to unlock the features of the printer/Reset the password. 

The reset instructions are specific to your printer and performing those steps on a different printer may brick the device. 

I've sent you a private message with reset instructions, follow the reset instruction to perform a full reset and re-initialize the printer.

I am also having the exact same issue with my Officejet Pro 6975 - changed routers and internet providers and my printer has locked me out of the ability to change my wireless connections.  I've started another string on this - nobody will answer me.  This is so OBVIOUSLY an HP issue - will you please help and and  fix the issue for other users??  thanks
