Hi @Jrad239,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out!

I understand your HP DeskJet 3637 printer is not connecting to Wi-Fi and you’d like to reset it to factory settings. Let’s go through a few steps to check what could be causing this.

Reset Wireless Settings

Make sure the printer is powered on and in a ready state.

Press and hold the Cancel (X) and Wireless (📶) buttons together for 5 seconds.

The blue wireless light should start blinking, indicating that the wireless settings have been reset.

Perform a Full Factory Reset (if the Wi-Fi reset doesn’t work)

Turn off the printer completely.

Press and hold the Power, Cancel (X), and Black Copy () buttons together for about 10–15 seconds.

Release the buttons once all the lights on the printer flash. The printer will restart and return to its factory default settings.

Reconnect to Wi-Fi

Open the HP Smart app on your computer or mobile device.

Tap the “+” icon to add a new printer.

Select HP DeskJet 3630 series, then follow the on-screen steps to connect the printer to your Wi-Fi network.

Confirm Reset Completion

After the reset, the wireless light should blink blue, showing that the printer is ready for setup.

Once connected, the light will turn solid blue, confirming a successful Wi-Fi connection.

I hope this helps.

Thanks but that did not work, either suggestion.

Printer is still attached to old Wifi SSID. Anymore suggestions?

More info. HP SMART on.my phone finds the printer. Then searches for local Wifi SSIDs but finds none. My phone is normally always connected to.my new WIFI.

Hi @Jrad239,

Thank you for the update!

Since the Wi-Fi reset and full factory reset didn't clear the old SSID and HP Smart isn’t detecting any available networks, let’s try a deeper reset and a different connection method to get your DeskJet 3637 back into setup mode.

Perform a Semi-Full Reset (Hidden Reset)

This reset goes deeper than the normal factory reset.

Power off the printer.

Press and hold:
Power button + Cancel (X) + Start Copy Color (Color copy button)

Keep holding for 10–15 seconds until the printer powers on and all lights blink.

Release the buttons and let the printer restart.

This reset removes stored Wi-Fi profiles that normal resets sometimes don’t clear.

Re-enter Wi-Fi Setup Mode Manually

After the reset:

Press and hold Wireless (📶) and Cancel (X) together for 5 seconds.

The blue wireless light should start blinking, this means it is in “Setup Mode”.

Connect Through a PC Instead of a Phone

Sometimes HP Smart on mobile fails to see SSIDs even when the printer is fine.

Try using a Windows or Mac PC:

Install/open HP Smart on the PC.

Click Add Printer.

When the printer appears, choose Wi-Fi setup and select your new SSID from the list.

If No Wi-Fi Networks Show Up

This tells us the Wi-Fi radio may be stuck. Try this:

Disable and re-enable Wi-Fi module

Press Wireless button (📶) once → wireless report prints.

Check if the report shows:

Wi-Fi Status: Off, or

Not configured.

If OFF → Press and hold Wireless button for 3 seconds to re-enable.

Connect Using Wi-Fi Direct (Temporary Setup)

If your home network still doesn't appear:

Press the Wi-Fi Direct button (or the Info button on some models).

A page prints with a Wi-Fi Direct name like DIRECT-xx-HP DeskJet 3630 series.

Connect your phone/laptop directly to that network.

Open HP Smart → Add Printer → Continue setup to home Wi-Fi.

I hope this helps.
