I had to replace our router due to end of life support. I need to change the SSID, but when I try to change the SSID on the printer screen, it wants a password. I have look all over for the sticker with the 8 digit pin on it around the toner cartridges.

Hi @ASFCOOL,
Welcome to the HP Support Community! We're here to help you get back up and running.
We understand how inconvenient it feels when you change your router and the printer HP Color LaserJet Pro MFP M281cdw d to bypass the PIN prompt and reconnect your printer to your new Wi-Fi, you do not need the physical sticker. Instead, clear the old network settings by resetting the printer's network defaults, and use the HP App or WPS mode to pair it.
Restore the factory-set defaults
Restoring the factory-set defaults returns all of the printer and network settings to the factory defaults.
It will not reset the page count, or tray size. To restore the printer to the factory-default settings, follow these steps.
CAUTION: Restoring the factory-set defaults returns all of the settings to the factory defaults, and it also deletes any pages that are stored in the memory.
1. From the Home screen on the printer control panel, swipe until the Setup menu displays. Touch the Setup icon to open the menu. 2. Scroll to and select the Service menu.
3. Scroll to and select Restore Defaults and then touch OK.
The printer automatically restarts.
Once these steps are completed, the printer should connect to your new SSID and appear in the HP App, ready for printing. Would you like me to also guide you through printing a Wireless Network Test Report from the printer’s control panel to confirm the connection status?
Take care and have an amazing day!
I'm an HP Employee.

Thank you for getting back to me.
I have done the steps you emailed (which I have tried several times before)
1. From the Home screen on the printer control panel, swipe until the Setup menu displays. Touch the Setup icon to open the menu. 2. Scroll to and select the Service menu.
At this point it asks for a password.
This is where I have tried "password" or blank - it displays "password is invalid" and I can't get pass this point
