Hi @LarryGM

Welcome to the HP Support Community! We're here to help you get back up and running.

Here are the precise steps to configure network scanning to a shared folder on your Mac Studio. Since folder sharing from macOS can sometimes be tricky, please follow each step carefully:

Step 1: Create a Shared Folder

  1. On your Mac, create a new folder where you want scanned files to be saved (for example, “Scans”).
  2. Right‑click the folder and select Get Info.
  3. Under Sharing & Permissions, ensure your user account has Read & Write access.

Step 2: Enable File Sharing

  1. Go to System Settings (or System Preferences depending on your macOS version).
  2. Select General > Sharing.
  3. Turn on File Sharing.
  4. Add the “Scans” folder to the list of shared folders.
  5. In the Users section, make sure your account is listed with Read & Write permissions.

Step 3: Note the Network Path

  1. In the Sharing window, look for the SMB address (it will look like: smb://YourMacName.local/Scans).
  2. This is the path you will enter on the printer’s control panel when setting up the scan destination.

Step 4: Verify SMB Settings

  1. Still in Sharing, click Options.
  2. Ensure Share files and folders using SMB is checked.
  3. Select your account and enter your password when prompted. This ensures the printer can authenticate.

Step 5: Configure on the Printer

  1. On the printer’s control panel, go to Scan > Network Folder Setup.
  2. Enter the SMB path noted earlier (smb://YourMacName.local/Scans).
  3. Enter your Mac username and password exactly as they are used to log in.
  4. Save the settings.

Step 6: Test the Scan

  1. Place a document on the scanner.
  2. Select Scan to Network Folder and choose the destination you configured.
  3. Verify that the file appears in your “Scans” folder.

Note.

  • Ensure your Mac and printer are on the same network.
  • If you use a firewall, allow SMB traffic.
  • Use the short computer name (found in System Settings > General > Sharing) instead of the full hostname if connection fails.

This setup ensures smooth scanning directly into your Mac folder.
