Does anyone have any idea why my ENVY Inspire 7900e All-in-One Printer has connected to signal.pod7.avatar.ext.hp.com over 18,000 times in the last 24 hours? There is absolutely no excuse for this kind of excessive "phone home" activity! I did not list an OS because the requests are going out from the printer itself, not one of the computers/devices that connect to the printer.
Yes, we use instant ink on that printer, so if it needs to check for a valid account once a day I have no problem. We did not print anything in the last 3 days with that printer though, so this activity is FAR outside of any legitimate access. I would simply block all outside traffic from that printer, but as I said we use instant ink.

I have for now blocked access to that address on my network and amazingly within a couple hours the printer stopped attempting to even try. Printer still works, so if anyone else experiences this problem it doesn't appear to cause any issues to block access to it.
