HP printer Office jet pro 9020
Prints sporadicly. I am using a Samsung galaxy phone. I have HP Smart and Hp app. Never know if, when printer will print. My husband has no trouble, just me. It printed off one page. I cannot get printer and phone to connect. I get error messages from printer " could not establish a wifi direct..." and print jobs do not show up in que. Then it prints unexpectedly - once.

Hi @Arbors,
Welcome to the HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.
It sounds like you're experiencing intermittent issues with connecting your HP OfficeJet Pro 9020 printer via WiFi with your Samsung Galaxy phone. Here are a few steps you can take to troubleshoot and resolve these issues:
1. Ensure Printer and Phone are on the Same Network
- Double-check that both your printer and Samsung Galaxy phone are connected to the same WiFi network. If your printer supports WiFi Direct, consider enabling it for direct communication.
2. Update HP Apps
- Ensure that both the HP app and any other related HP app on your phone are up to date. Updates often contain bug fixes that can resolve connectivity issues.
3. Check WiFi Direct Settings
- On your printer, go to the WiFi Direct settings and ensure it is enabled. Refer to the printer manual for specific steps if needed.
4. Reset the Printer
- Try performing a soft reset of the printer:
- Turn off the printer and unplug it from the power source.
- Wait about 60 seconds, and then plug it back in and turn it on.
5. Reinstall HP App
- Uninstall the HP app from your Samsung Galaxy phone and reinstall it from the Google Play Store. This can clear any app-specific issues.
6. Positioning and Signal Strength
- Ensure that the printer is positioned where it receives a strong WiFi signal. If the signal is weak, consider moving the router closer to the printer.
7. Printer Connectivity Test
- On the printer, access the control panel and look for the option to print a network test report. This report can provide details on connectivity issues.
8. Clear Print Queue
- If print jobs do not appear or get stuck in the queue, try clearing the print queue from the HP app or your phone's settings.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have an amazing day!
