Hi @tracy49686

Welcome to the HP Support Community! We're here to help you get back up and running.

I understand how frustrating it must feel when the printer suddenly refuses to power back on after you’ve already tried unplugging and reconnecting it. Thank you for taking that first troubleshooting step—it helps narrow down the possibilities.

Let’s walk through a few careful checks together to bring the printer back to life:

Step 1: Power Source Check

  • Ensure the power cord is firmly seated both at the back of the printer and into the wall outlet or surge protector.
  • If you are using a surge protector or extension cord, try plugging the printer directly into a wall outlet to rule out issues with the intermediary device.

Step 2: Power Cord and Adapter

  • If your printer uses an external power adapter, disconnect it from both ends and reconnect after 30 seconds.
  • Inspect the cord for any visible damage or looseness.

Step 3: Reset the Power

  • With the printer unplugged, wait at least 60 seconds before reconnecting. This allows the internal power system to discharge fully.
  • After reconnecting, press the power button firmly once and observe if any lights or sounds occur.

Step 4: Different Outlet Test

  • Try another wall outlet in the room to eliminate the possibility of a faulty socket.

Step 5: Remove USB/Ethernet Connections

  • Disconnect any data cables (USB or Ethernet) and attempt to power on with only the power cord connected.

If after these steps the printer still shows no signs of power, the issue may be with the internal power supply or hardware. Since you’ve already done the initial unplug/replug step, these checks will confirm whether the problem is external or internal.
