I just got a new router, network and password from Verizon. I have a MacBook Pro running Catalina 10.15.17 iOS. I have an HP Tango printer that had been connected prior to getting the new router/network/password. I want to be able to connect the HP Tango to this new network. I can't download the app to my computer because you have to have Catalina 11 or higher and I have no room to install anything more than that. I've tried pressing the wireless button the back of the Tango for 3 seconds to put it into setup mode. Then I tried my app on my iPhone which sees the tango but says it is unavailable. The instruction to set it up don't help. Can anyone help me? Thank you very much

Hi @bookpro22,
Welcome to the HP Support Community!
Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding printer!
We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.
Since you cannot download the HP Smart app on your Mac due to the macOS version, you can try setting up the HP Tango printer manually using Wi-Fi Direct or WPS (Wi-Fi Protected Setup).
Use iPhone to Connect the Printer to New Wi-Fi
Reset the Printer's Network Settings:
- Press and hold the Wireless button (🔵) on the back of the printer for 5 seconds until the Edge lighting flashes blue.
- This puts the printer into Wi-Fi setup mode.
Reconnect the Printer Using the HP Smart App on iPhone:
- Make sure your iPhone is connected to the new Wi-Fi network.
- Open the HP Smart app on your iPhone.
- Tap the + (Add Printer) sign.
- Select your HP Tango from the list and follow the on-screen instructions to connect it to the new Wi-Fi.
Connect via Wi-Fi Direct (Without HP Smart App)
If the above method doesn’t work, try using Wi-Fi Direct:
- Turn on Wi-Fi Direct:
- Press the Wi-Fi button on the back of the printer for 3-5 seconds until the light blinks.
- Find the Printer’s Wi-Fi Direct Name & Password:
- Print a Network Configuration Page:
- Press and hold the Information button (ℹ️) until all control panel lights turn on, then release.
- Look for Wi-Fi Direct Name (SSID) and Wi-Fi Direct Password on the printed page.
- Print a Network Configuration Page:
- Connect Your Mac or iPhone to the Printer’s Wi-Fi Direct:
- On your Mac/iPhone, go to Wi-Fi settings.
- Select the printer’s Wi-Fi Direct Name (e.g., "HP-Setup-Tango-XXXX").
- Enter the Wi-Fi Direct password (found on the printed page).
- Open HP Smart on iPhone and Complete Setup:
- Open HP Smart, add the printer, and follow the steps to set up Wi-Fi.
Use WPS (If Your Router Supports It)
- Press and hold the WPS button on the router until it blinks.
- Press and hold the Wireless button (🔵) on the printer for 3-5 seconds until it blinks.
- The printer should automatically connect to the network.
Let me know which method works for you! 😊
