Hi @Nick260,

Welcome to the HP Support Community

I'd like to help!

I understand you need help connecting your HP Deskjet F4580 printer to your Wi-Fi.

To provide you with an accurate solution, I would need the following details:

  • Is your router dual-band enabled i.e., both 2.4GHz and 5GHz?
  • What is the distance between the router and the printer?

While you respond to that, I would suggest you connect the printer to the wireless network using Wi-Fi Protected Setup. Here are the steps listed below:

Option one: Push-button

  • On the printer control panel, press and hold the Wireless button for two seconds.
  • The printer starts a timer that allows you about two minutes to press the WPS button on the wireless router.
  • Press and hold the WPS button on the wireless router for several seconds. The printer automatically finds the wireless network and then configures the connection.

Option two: PIN

  • On the printer control panel press and hold the Scan button () for two seconds. The printer prints a Wireless Test Report and Network Configuration Page.
  • Locate the WPS PIN on one of the reports.
  • Press and hold the Wireless button for two seconds.
  • The printer begins a timer that lasts approximately two minutes to allow time to enter the WPS PIN.
  • Sign in to your router's software interface.
  • If you need assistance signing in to the router's software interface, contact your network administrator or the manufacturer of the router.
  • Under the router's wireless settings for WPS, type the printer PIN. The printer automatically finds the wireless network and then configures the connection.

Once the printer is connected to Wi-Fi, please install the HP Print Service Plugin from Google Playstore or you may click the link.

Hi many thanks for the reply greatly appreciated. The router is dual 2.4 and 5 and is only 3 feet away.

I have already tried the was and downloaded hp smart on my computer and phone. When I hold the scan button down no report comes out. I think the problem comes from a security function that isn't allowing the printer to connect it to a new network but allows it to be used with USB lead. I have tried the reset printer a number of times but no luck. I can see the hpsetup wireless network the printer generates but it will not allow access. When I look at the printer in hpsmart it says offline but when you do a print test it's fine over usb 🤫
