Hi @billplllad,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
For your HP Envy 5505 printer, you should connect it to the 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi network. Most HP printers, including the Envy series, are designed to work with 2.4 GHz networks as they offer better range and stability compared to 5 GHz, which is more suited for high-speed, short-range connections.
Steps to Reset and Reconnect Your HP Envy 5505 Printer:
Restore Network Settings on the Printer:
- On the printer's control panel, go to Settings or Wireless Settings.
- Look for the option to Restore Network Settings or Restore Defaults, and confirm the reset.
Reconnect to Wi-Fi:
- After the reset, return to the Wireless Setup Wizard (found under the Wireless menu on the printer's control panel).
- Select your 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi network from the list.
- Enter the Wi-Fi password when prompted.
Install/Update Printer Software on Your Computer:
- If needed, download the latest HP Smart app or printer drivers from the HP Support website.
- Use the HP Smart app to detect the printer and complete the wireless setup.
Test the Connection:
- Print a Wireless Network Test Report from the printer's control panel to confirm the connection.
- Try printing a test page.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
