OfficeJet Pro 7740
Microsoft Windows 10 (32-bit)

Hi

i have just purchased the officejet pro 7740 so i can print out structural steel drawings in A3 for work.

I have A4 paper in Tray 1 and A3 paper Tray 2. When i print from a word document, I click print and the pop up box gives me an option of A4 or A3 which is exactly what i wanted.

BUT when I print from a PDF the only way i can get it to fit the A3 paper is to click ctrl + Print, then Properties, then Paper/Quality select A3 then OK, THEN click Poster and change it to 133%. Then I have to change it all back when I need to print A4

It is sooooooo complicated. Surely there is a better way, or is it a software problem.

Help i am so frustrated.

I am not sure if my operating system is 32 or 64 bit. Definitely windows 10

Hi@PF SW,

Thanks for using the HP Forums. One Stop for all sort of solutions for your HP Products

I have read your post and understand that you have an issue changing the paper type while printing form pdf. Is that, right?

I have researched the issue and have come up with a possible resolution.

I recommend you to update the Adobe Acrobat reader and check if that solves the issue.

The only reason to update the pdf reader is because of the correct functioning of MS word app.

Use the link below to update the Acrobat reader.

This should solve the issue.  Let me know for more solution.

Hi @PFSW

Thanks for using the HP Forums. Apologies for jumping in here.

Spoiler

It is sooooooo complicated.

It is actually very simple. Please follow these steps:

1. Please ensure that you have your FULL feature software installed

Watch this video if needed:

Connect Wirelessly, Download and Install Software

2. Ensure that Tray 1 and Tray 2 are configured correctly for A4 and A3 media respectively.

This video will show you how to do that if needed:

Configure Print Settings on HP Officejet Pro 7740

3. From your Adobe Reader, select Print > Properties

Go to Paper Quality tab > Paper sizes > select A3

4. Make sure that "Paper Sizing and Handling" is set to "Fit"

5. Click Print and the printer will automatically print to fit the A3 size media.

We tried and it printed correct to the A3 page size, picking from Tray 2. Key thing here is to configure the trays correctly to begin with.

Hope that helps!
