did you get a response to your question?

I have an HP Color LeserJetPro MFPM277dw.

Like multiple other users on this forum, I need to reset the password (either I wrote it down wrong or the printer is messed up).

Since there has to be a private message for each and every person with this problem, instead of just a posted solution for everyone to find easily, .....

Please send me a private message with the instructions to reset.

Hi @BlueLu,

Thanks for reaching out. 🙂 Good day.  I read your post about printer password issues while printing with your printer and you need to reset the password. I will be delighted to assist you here. 🙂

Stupendous diagnosis and spectacular analysis of the issue before posting.  Kudos to you on that score. It is always a privilege to work with technical specialists like you. 🙂

We greatly value your relationship with HP. You are a valued HP customer and we appreciate you greatly for doing business with HP. I take it as a privilege to share this platform with you.:)

For better clarity and to assist you better, I would require more information regarding this?

  • Does it give you any error message?
  • Did this happen after you changed the router or network settings?

Please check these YouTube links out to perform the required resets of the computer.

Please remember that it resets the printer to factory settings.

Please don’t click on any image, link, password, download or anything else as this is a youtube link and needs to be viewed only for the required instructions to perform an NVRAM reset on the printer.

i have the same problem and it is not in the service manual i have downloaded. Please assist.

I'm not sure how to respond to the post from DavidSMP.

The post asks about error messages.  Technically, I don't think a request for a password is an error message; maybe a message saying the password is wrong (even though it's the password I wrote down when I set it) is considered an error message.  Other than that, there are no "error" messages.

I did not change router or network settings.

YouTube doesn't strike me as a great way to do a step by step for something this mission-critical.  I also have a peculiar problem with the audio on my computer, so it's a non-starter for me.  Plus, quite frankly, I do a whole lot better following written instructions that I can review, mark up, compare with what's actually going on with the printer, etc.

Does HP not have the steps to reset a printer written down somewhere?

Doesn't seem to be the solution for an MFP M277dw.

I tried holding down the R corner immediately after hitting the "on" button; immediately after it said it was "calibrating"; immediately after it said it was "initializing;" and immediately after all the icons came up.  No message; nothing purporting to be a progress bar.

This is so ridiculous.  There are 6 pages, each with multiple posts, all asking the same simple question.  Does HP have any legitimate interest in keeping its users in the dark about how to reset its own printers??????

Alas, the "page not found" message is all one gets clicking to find the document on how to reset to factory specs.

I guess it was revealing one of HP's deep dark secrets, because HP sure doesn't want to respond to all these posts asking how to do it.

All,

I have the following network printers with no access to the admin credentials because the person who previously maintained these is no longer around to help out. I am having difficulties getting these printers factory/NVRAM reset. They are HP Laserjet P3015, P4014N and the color laserjet M750.

Most of the instructions I have found online regarding holding the "OK" or "Green Button"  until the three LED lights lit green is not helping as I have not been successful with seeing all three lights lit a solid green simultaneously. I appreciate any assistance on this issue please.

Hello,

I am having the same issue with a Color Laserjet 4700dn.  I did a factory reset but I still cannot login to the control panel.

Could you please help me?

Thank you.

I did figure it out, but I have to try to remember what I did.  It involved searching the web and i believe I found the answer on just a google search rather than on this worhtless HP site. I can tell you this was one of the most stressful things in running my office as of late.  The service pin is likely 050 then your nubmer for your printer. mine is a 252, then the number 12. so it would look like this 05052512.

These are the notes that i have:

to do a cold reset,

1. turn on the printer. the hp logo displays on the control panel.

2. when the "1/8" appears touch the logo to open the preboot menu.

3. use the down arrow to highlihgt "Adminstrator." then touch ok.

4. use the down arrow button to highlight the "STARTUP OPTIONS" item, then touch ok

5. use the down arrow button to higlight "cold reset time," then touch ok.

6. Touch home button onthe screen to highlight "continue" then touch ok.  the service pin is as i have described above: 050____12.

I also downloaded the new drivers to a flash drive.  I stuck the flash drive into the port near the screen.  When i turned on the printer i somehow got to the boot menu and booted from the flash drive.  If I remember more about this, I will let you know.
