HP Officejet Pro 8720
iOS

I have set up a new 8720 Officejest Pro. I have a mac and printing wirelessly is working just fine! HOWEVER, when I try to use airprint from my ipad or iphone it says it cannot find any printers!.... I have assured that I am on the same wifi as the printer,,,etc...all seems good!.....HOWEVER, when I open the printer utility and go to wireless....under the dropdown menu for airprint, it shows it is disabled and provides the following message ""

"You cannot use this function because it has been disabled. For more information, contact the person who set up the printer."

I just do not know where in the setup or options there is anything that allows me to turn this function on or off....especially when my MAC seems to be printing just fine....

Please advise!

One other odd thing...it appears that the firmware update function is turned off also since I tried to see if I have the patest firmware and it told me this was turned off as well!

Please advise!

Good day!

Ensure Bonjour and IPP are enabled.

Otherwise, it could be due to Admin disabled AirPrint, check via EWS:

1. Settings

2. Security

3. Administrator Settings

Please let me know if this solution help. 🙂

Did all of this....did not correct the problem...the interesting thiing is that the printer utility says that airprint is disabled...and the person who set up the printer disabled it! That was me and I for the life of me do not know where that option is inbedded in the possible options???

Sorry, don't have an iPhone, so I can't try this out myself to provide any more directions.

Good Luck

there is a possibility that the airprint feature is indeed disabled on your printer, get the i.p. address of the printer (take note of it) open a web browser and in the address bar, put in the i.p. address of your printer, if all is well, you should be able to log in to the EWS(embedded web server) of the printer.

Thanks for the tip...I had done that before to check...and yes, I went to the wireless tab and there is a airprint status there and it says that it is disabled! However, no where is there a setting to enable it anywhere in any of the tabs etc,....I am trying to find out how to enable it!???

It says to speak to the person/administrator that set up the printer to enable it!....Well that is me and for the life of me, I cannot find out where or how to enable it!  Remember also, I am successfully printing from my MAC wirelessly!

is the printer asking you for admin rights whenever you are trying to enable the airprint feature from the EWS?

there is no place for me to enable the sirprint?  It lets me get to every other concievable option but there does not seem to be one for airprint...that is my issue?????

do you have a screenshot of the EWS for your printer?
